Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone had a fun Halloween. It's always so much fun to see the little trick-or-treaters dressed up in their costumes. Morgan dressed up as a Gothic mummy this year. Don't ask me - it wasn't my idea! Morgan dressed Lacey up as a devil. Lacey didn't like it, but she was a good sport. Sammie escaped having to dress up, but I think she was a little bit jealous of the attention that Lacey got. The twins, Isabella and Matthew, dressed up as a kitty and puppy.

Before the trick-or-treating began, we went to a neighbor's house for a little party they have in their driveway every year. This year they served pizza, chicken nuggets, veggies and drinks. It's a wonderful opportunity to see all of the neighborhood kids in their costumes. Everyone has a good time.

Joel took Morgan trick-or-treating around the neighborhood with a couple of her friends while I stayed home to pass out candy. The kids don't like to walk up our long driveway, so we never know how many trick-or-treaters we are going to get. One year I buy lots of candy, and only a few kids show up, and the next year I skimp on the candy and run out. Last year we probably had 50 kids; this year we only had two groups of three kids, and Morgan and her friends were one of the groups. I'll have plenty of candy to take to work on Monday.

I am so thankful that Halloween fell on a Friday this year. It is so hard to stay up late for trick-or-treaters, get Morgan to bed after she has eaten too much candy and then get her up and ready for school the next morning before heading to work. We all slept in this morning, even the dogs.

Saturday at the FFA Camp

Our time at the camp passed much too quickly, and I took far too few pictures. I was too busy being in the moment to pull out my camera. It was cold, windy and damp Saturday morning, but we didn't let that dampen our spirits. LOL! After breakfast, we went on a hayride to the petting zoo. Clay was wearing shorts, but that didn't stop him from offering his sweatshirt to Lori. What a guy!

It warmed up in the afternoon, and we took the canoes to the shoals. The canoe that Morgan and I started out with was taking on water, and we had to return to the boat launch site to trade it out. By the time we got there, the water was over the back seat, where I was sitting, and my jeans were soaked. Of course, Morgan thought it was funny. We were able to catch up to everyone else, but I'm feeling all of that extra rowing today!

When everyone else headed to the dining hall for dinner, Morgan and I headed back to Atlanta for the show. We met Joel at the Fox Theater, and Morgan could hardly wait to see him. We really enjoyed "Wicked." It's a cute twist on "The Wizard of Oz," and is very high energy. It was almost midnight when we got home, and we were so happy to sleep in our own beds.

Family Reunion at the Camp

This weekend is our family reunion at the FFA Camp. We look forward to it all year. We all stay in the same cabin, eat in the dining hall, toast marshmallows around the bonfire and canoe to the shoals, where we always pose for our holiday card picture. This year will be different for several reasons.

First, my mother and sister won't be there this year. They are flying to Vietnam today to complete the adoption process of my new niece, Lucie. I can't wait to meet my precious new niece, but it just won't be the same without Mom and Lisa.

Second, it is cold and rainy today, so we'll have to forgo the bonfire tonight. I'm hoping the rain will hold off tomorrow and that it will warm up a little bit, so we can still take the canoes to the shoals. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Third, we aren't going to be able to spend tomorrow night at the camp. I bought theater tickets to see "Wicked" tomorrow night without realizing there was a scheduling conflict. We have been wanting to see the show for over a year, so we made the difficult decision to leave the reunion early. We will just make the most of the time we do spend at the camp!

As always, I waited until the last minute to pack, so I better get busy!

Everybody's Doing It!

Blogging - everybody's doing it, even my technologically challenged sister. I guess it's time for me to join the twenty-first century, too.
